Monister of Tourism in Cuba together with the Travel Agency Cubatur, the official agency in charged of welcoming and accommodating the guests and Marlin S.A Company from Gran Caribe Hotel Group will make the official convocation next October 18th at the International Nautical Club in Havana City, for all the photographers and certified models to the International Underwater Photo FOTOSUB CAYO LARGO 2012, to be developed on this important touristic destiny of Cuba and Playa Blanca Hotel will be the host of the event.
FOTOSUB CAYO LARGO 2012 will have the Open category and it will be developed from the 20th till the 24th of May.

PUMPS OF PLAYA BLANCA HOTEL SWIMMING POOLS ARE RENOVATED |

With the main purpose of improving the services for the next high season it has been taking place in Playa Blanca Hotel an important group of works concerning the maintenance and reparation of essential services received by clients.
Specialists on this kind of job from ENA Company in Havana City were responsible of the investment made in the room where the pumps are, so it will allow a better performance of the system after changing the chlorine and the ph. Consequently it will bring about a better flow of water and a significant progress in the current conditions of the two main swimming pools of the resort.

One common day of November 2008, Yvon Lalonde, a citizen of L,Original in Ontario City, visited our Hotel Playa Blanca in Cayo Largo del Sur, named Barceló at that time, without knowing it would not be just another holiday in another regular spot of the Cuban geography but the place where he will come back again and again from that moment on.

Being 58 years old and after having visited some other places in the region, this man felt in love with the beauty of the beaches, he could never forget the colors of the sea at the paradisiacal Paraíso and Sirena beaches, plus the white and fine sands of them.
But there was not only the magnificence of nature what made him returned, Yvon believes this hotel is his second home, workers are his family, the kindness and sympathy his is treated by entertainers, tenderness of chambermaids and the respect of the rest of the stuff are great experiences this man can not forget wherever he is and that way he manifests it to his friends in Canada who often ask him why so many times in the same place.

It counts already 19 visits in a little bit more than 3 years for Mr Lalonde in Playa Blanca Hotel and he still feels a great pleasure when he tastes the food at any of the restaurants or when he goes to the disco with entertainers and dancers. |

Once, while talking to him we asked him how many more times he thought he could come to our resort and his answer showed what he really feels for the place and his people:

THE ENTERTAINTMENT THEATRE OF PLAYA BLANCA WILL HAVE A MODERN STAGE SYSTEM |

As part of the whole process of renovation of the product before the beginning of the next high season on winter, it is about to be finished in this moment, a new modern setup for the entertainment stage of Playa Blanca Hotel brought from Spain.
This new investment will bring a better scenographic design of the Shows presented in the Hotel as well as much more colour and professionalism of all the artistic expressions that are shown to the clients day by day.

IT´S FINISH
RECONSTRUTIONS OF THE RANCHON VELAMAR |

The Ranchon Velamar restaurant of our hotel will open his doors in the forthcoming days after being under a total reconstruction of the roof that kept it closed for some weeks.
As part of a whole program of renovation within Playa Blanca Hotel which reaches some areas such as bungalows, the gym and part of the swimming pool system the Ranchon is almost ready to bring again the various services such as beach bar, lunch, Cuban food restaurant and discotheque, all of them very expected and appreciated by clients. |

THERE ARE RENOVATED EQUIPMENTS OF PLAYA BLANCA HOTEL GYM |

Within the new improvements that take place at Gran Caribe Playa Blanca Hotel for the next high season 2011-2012 we find the renewal of the Gym’s equipments.
In a first period, it has been replaced the stationary bicycles and the treadmill for cardiovascular exercises with very high technology new equipments, it has also been incorporated a Hercules apparatus that allows a huge range of exercises our clients can do.
Other efforts to improve services are developed in the resort that will permit the increasing of the hotel’s standards aiming the next high season.

HAD IT NOT BEEN BY A BOOK |

It all began back in 2003 when, after having been able to travel to different geographies of the Caribbean, Jack and Laurie Geenevasen were looking, with not too much hope, for a new destiny to explore.

One day, maybe it was a fortuitous event or maybe it was one of those delightful traps destiny places in our ways, the name Cayo Largo del Sur emerged suddenly to fill the eyes of this couple who had never thought about Cuba as a touristic destination and not even close the idea of going to that little and apparently not attractive key.
As they had planned, they would go to the first place they would see when opening that book full of information concerning places to go and it became the best decision ever taken in their lives. Then came the first trip to the place and it happened what it was inevitable, they were captivated by the magic of the place, the transparencies of the beaches, the almost paradisiacal atmosphere, the quietness and reliability everywhere but more than anything the incomparable kindness and grace of workers. |

That was the way Jack and Laurie, a 37 years married couple who live in Ontario, Canada, have made of Cayo Largo del Sur the place where they, necessarily, have to spend their vacations and where, after 15 visits they still feel excited as the first time with the smile of a barman, the ¨good morning¨ greetings of the room maid or the honest hug we give to them. Clients coming from Canada will arrive divided in three international flights from Toronto and Montreal; this event will allow the hotel to reach the 86% of occupancy, a number that also represents a new record for a day in October.
If the season keeps this positive way, this November it is expected 9 600 tourists in the resort what represents and increasing of 425 % compared with 2009 and 5 100 clients more than what it was contemplated, representing the 213% of achievement.

But at Playa Blanca Hotel we have a client that has visited us several times who has found a very peculiar way of showing is devotion and love for the hotel and Cayo Largo in general. He got a tattoo of Cayo Largo del Sur island in his back.
