From January of the present year, Playa Blanca Hotel achieved the first placed in Tripadvisor.com and Monarca.ca under the category of best hotel regarding the correlation quality-price, position that it still holds.
By the end of that month, the hotel was awarded with the Traveller’s Choice Award by Tripadvisor.com under the same category in Mexico and the Caribbean. The 93% of the clients suggest our hotel which contributed to wining that prize. |

In addition to these accomplishments, there is the arrival of 900 fans in the hotel page in Facebook, with more than 100 interactions weekly. Today Playa Blanca counts with best beach in front of the hotel and reaches 21.2% of repeat guests every week. |

A group of eight experienced German divers retake the captivating “Ruta de los Indios”, sponsored by the tour operator Blue Diving and the hotel chain Gran Caribe.
The divers departured from the turistic port La Coloma, visiting and diving in San Felipe key, located in the southern part of the port and in Los Indios key found at the western part of the majestic Colony Hotel, International Diving Center.
It was just there where they stayed and carried on a group of scuba diving in one of the best diving areas of the caribbean.

A LOVE STORY IN PLAYA BLANCA

It all started February 2008. Eric Roland Cir was coming to Cayo Largo for the first time as one of the member of a wedding that would take place at Playa Blanca Hotel, named Barceló Cayo Largo by that time.
During her stay this man coincided several times and apparently by accident with Roxanne Whissell, a young beautiful girl from Quebec who was also enjoying her vacations in the hotel by that time.
It seems to be casual the fact these youngsters always had a reason to meet and enjoy nice conversations having the sea, the sand, and the pleasant atmosphere of a restaurant near the beach as witness but the respect among each other didn’t allow them to go further. |

Destiny wanted to help a little bit and just the San Valentines Day when Roxanne had to go, a few hour before her final departure the young girls decided, for the last time, to get into the water of a lonely sea who was furious that afternoon.. |
 |
The tiredness of a whole day fighting against the brave waves beat her and Roxanne started to faint when miraculously Eric came out and without any hesitation risked his life to save hers.
That human and heroic act, with no doubt, would help to take the decision of starting a new kind of relationship.
A year ago the new couple came back by the same time but his time to announce their engagement to get married, today in 2010 Roxanna and Eric are here again and they have decided they will celebrate all San Valentines Days here, in this hotel where the young man saved the girl’s life to join his for the rest of his days.

Gran Caribe Playa Blanca Hotel became a peculiar art gallery where clients from different nationalities got together to make sand sculptures in a fraternal competition.
Little turtles, puppets, mermaids among other images were the art pieces made by cheery clients that took advantage of a beautiful morning and the marvelous conditions of the beach to use their imagination on our hotel’s sand.
Friends and families enjoyed this fantastic show made in our beach which dresses up his best colors through these days to bring happiness to the life of those who visit it.

It is a reality, after six month waiting and getting ready for the moment, Gran Caribe Playa Blanca Hotel re-opens his doors and the joy is not only for the aperture but the great pleasure of celebrating at the same time, a special week for repeat guests.
The opening ceremony was characterized by his originality; the idea was to show an apparently closed hotel by the time clients arrived.
